IamDr.KhinMaung,Director(OralHealth)/ChiefDentalOfficerofDepartmentofMedicalServices,MinistryofHealthMyanmar.IhavegraduatedB.D.SdegreefromUniversityofDentalMedicine,Yangonsince1994.IhavebeenworkingatMinistryofHealthasapublicdentistsince1995andpostedtoseveralhospitalssuchasMadayaTownshipHospital,MandalayGeneralHospitalandNayPyiTawGeneralHospital(1000-bedded).IstudiedforpostgraduatediplomadegreeandM.D.Sc(OralSurgery)atUniversityofDentalMedicine,Yangon.IstudiedtheclinicaltrainingforOralandMaxillofacialSurgeryfromJapanandGermany.

IamappointedasGeneralSecretoryofMyanmarDentalCouncil.IamstillworkingasaSeniorConsultantSurgeonattheOralandMaxillofacialSurgicalWardofNayPyiTawGeneralHospital(1000-bedded).MyanotherdutyisMedicalSuperintendentatNayPyiTawDentalHospital.

Abstract:

Myanmaristhedevelopingcountryandmedicalcaresystemisalmostalwaysfreeofchargeandallareprovidedbygovernment.MyanmarheadingtoUniversalHealthCoverage(UHC)at2030andimplementationwithMyanmarNationalHealthPlan.Concerningwithdentistry,wehavetwodentaluniversitieswhereatYangonandMandalaythataregovernmentuniversitiesandeveryyeartheirintakeisnearly300studentsintotal.MyanmarDentalCouncilissemigovernmentandrunsasindependentbodyandruleandregulatesthedentists’registrationandlicenses.WehavealreadyapprovedtogivethebasicessentialHealthpackagesthateverypublicdentalclinicmustprovidetheextraction,fillingandscalinginFreeofcharge.Oralcancer,facialtraumaandinjuriesandcleftlipandpalatepatientsaretakecaredbythegovernmenthospitalsalsoinFOC.Wedoalotofcooperationwithothercountriessuchas:China,Japan,Korea,Germany,Indiaetc..

Myanmarfirstnationaloralhealthsurveywassuccessfullyfinishedin2016-17andnowwearetryingtodothesecondMyanmarnationaloralhealthsurveysoon.WeplantotakeactionforMyanmarNationalOralHealthSurveywith5yearsinterval.

WehaveNationalguidelinefororalhealthcarestrategiesandmostofthepublicsectorsareperformingthiscircular.
